Investigate friction or acceleration or calculate forces, for example.
The inclined plane is stable, and adjusting the angle is easy. The protractor is graduated to 45°, but the plane can be tilted a further 10°.
One possible experiment involves examining the friction of various materials. Place an object on the plane and increase the angle until the object slides down. Repeat the experiment with different objects. Between which objects is there a lot of friction, and little friction? What causes this friction? How is the frictional force calculated?
You can use a pulley, a cord and a dynamometer to determine the force on a trolley, for example (in the direction of the plane). Compare the value measured with an estimated value based on the mass of trolley and the angle of the plane.
Material: Metal.
