Blow into the pipe and find out how the tone changes when you move the slide in and out.
Blowing into the drone pipe generates a standing wave. Moving the slide in or out changes the wavelength and hence the frequency of the tone. There is a ruler on the slide so that you can calculate wavelengths.
Something to think about: Remove the slide and blow into the pipe. How does the tone change if you suddenly hold your hand in front of the hole at the end of the pipe?
