Measure the fall time from a known height and calculate the acceleration of gravity. Alternatively, you can use the fall time and g≈9.82 to calculate the height of a building, for example.
The g-ball is a ball fitted with a timer. The timer starts when you let go of the ball and then stops automatically when the ball lands. You can read the fall time straight away without the reaction time affecting the measurement, as is the case when measuring manually using a stopwatch.
You can use the fall time to calculate factors such as the fall height, the acceleration of gravity, the speed of the ball before it lands, the maximum height of the ball when it is thrown up in the air, etc. You can also compare fall times if you let go of the ball or throw it horizontally.
Note: The ball must only be dropped onto relatively soft surfaces, such as a lawn or soft floor. Otherwise there is a risk of cracking the display.
