Determine the speed of the ball when it leaves the track. Suggestions for solution methods: energy calculations, photocell or carbon paper...?
Calculate the initial velocity of the ball – classic laboratory experiment in mechanics. One method is to start from the height where the ball is released and calculate potential, kinetic and rotational energy. Another method is to start from the fall time of the ball and the place where it lands. Tip: Let the ball land on a carbon paper, the point where it lands is marked. Check results by measuring the initial velocity with a photogate, art. no.: 60332 or PS-3225.
Material: V-shaped aluminium track on base of wood.
Dimensions: Base: 40x10x3 cm. Total height: 44 cm.
Weight: 0.7 kg.
Accessories: Steel ball Ø16 mm (art. no.: 59954) included.
