See how far the liquid rises in the different tubes - discuss the capillary effect.
The liquid should rise to the same height in the five communicating tubes, one thick and four narrow. Pour water into the thickest tube and see how much water is "sucked" into the narrow tubes. This demonstration will be an inspiration to discussions concerning the capillary effect.
Material: Glass on a plastic foot.
