Introduction
THERMOLINK is a program for
collecting data from thermometer which is connected with a PC or notebook. One
may process these data with graphic or text style interface. The program is
very easy to use via the graphic user interface. The users do not have to
search the function within a lot of menus. The major functions are all in the
main window and they are indicated with large icons.
System Required:
Windows 95 or
Windows NT 4.0 or above.
Minimum Hardware Required:
486
DX2-66 MHz, 8 MB RAM ;
At
least 4 MB byte hard disk space available to install THERMOLINK software.
Recommended
display resolution 800X600 with High Color(16 bit).
Linking Status :
With
this graphic presentation, it will indicate the user that the program is now
search for the thermometer.
Linking Result :
If there is a
thermometer connected to the PC, the program will display model type of the
thermometer. If there is no thermometer connected, it will display "Can
not find any thermometer". In this case the user may have to check the
cable and the connection between the PC and the thermometer, then select
"RETRY" to do it again. Or the user can select "OK" to
continue without any thermometer connected. In such cases the user may just
want to open old data file for reviewing or for printing.
OK - Confirm Button:
When THERMOLINK finish
searching for linking, click "OK" to close this dialog box and return
to Main Menu Window.
RELINK-Try Linking again:
Use this button to
search for the serial port again to check if there is any thermometer
connected. If you have checked the cable and the power status of the
thermometer and the program still can not find the link, the COM port of the PC
may be occupied by some programs, it is recommended to restart the system and
to try it again.
Link Test :
Open
Link Test window to search if there is any thermometer connected to PC. When
you start the THERMOLINK, this window will display first and search for
thermometer. The result will be shown in the text box.
Control Panel:
By opening the Control
Panel Window, the user can control thermometer via the button in this window.
Tabular:
By opening the Tabular
window, the data form the thermometer will be listed in a scrolling table. These
data can be stored as a file or the table can be copy to other software such as
EXCEL for further analysis.
Real Time Graph:
Open Real-Time Graph
display for the resent collected data.
Exit:
Terminates THERMOLINK
program.
Tray Icon:
When THERMOLINK is running , there will
be an icon displayed on the Windows Tray area(see figure below), you can click
this icon then it will show a pop-up menu.
Click
the Tray Icon to get a pop-up menu.

Line - Thin :
use thin
solid line type

Mark Data : mark data points with a
small circle
Range - display range of Y axis
Print - Sent data to the
printer.
Clear all the data.
Pause - Stop recording data to graph.
Run - Begin to record data to graph.
Sampling
Rate - Time
interval of recording data. If you want to change it, move mouse cursor to the
digit you want to change and click, then input the new sampling rate, then the
change will work immediately.
It will keep 5000 data
points, when data points are more than 5000, latest 100 points will shift out.
The
Tabular window can be used to record real time data in a table. The maximum
records it keeps only depends on the available memory and hard disk space
available.
Button
and Menu
New - Reset all the data.
Open - Retrieve files from the
disk.
Save - Save the present data to
the disk.
Save As - Save the present data to
the disk with a new file name.
Print - Sent data in the present
table to the printer.
Pause - Stop data recording.
Run - Start data recording.
Output To Graph -
Sent
tabular data to another graph.
Sampling Rate - Time interval between each data recording. If you want
to change it, move mouse cursor to the digit you want to change and click, then
input the new sampling rate, the change will work immediately.
Table :
COLUMN
- You can adjust the width of each column. Put your mouse cursor on the
vertical line between two column in top row, then the cursor will become , click mouse left
button and hold , drag to adjust the width.
NO
- Record number
DATE
- record date.
TIME
- record time.
MAIN
- value of main window of thermometer.
UNIT
- unit of main window.
SECOND
- value of sub-window of thermometer.
TYPE
- thermo couple type.
FUNCTION
- HOLD,MAX,MIN,AVG,REL
1.I had connected thermometer to PC serial port and turned thermometer
power on, but THERMOLINK still show "NO CONNECTION".
Answer: It could be that all serial
port are occupied by other application, close all application and try
"LINK TEST" again. If it still don't work. Restart your computer and
run THERMOLINK again.
2. In TABULAR window , I saved a file. Can I use EXCEL to open this file
?
Answer: When you save a file in
TABULAR, the default file format is "*.CSV". CSV is an EXCEL file
format.You can open it in EXCEL.
3.How to uninstall
THERMOLINK ?
Answer:Uninstall THERMOLINK by launching the Add/Remove Programs applet out of
the Control Panel, highlighting the THERMOLINK, and clicking on the
Add/Remove... push button, then it will remove the THERMOLINK folder and files
from your computer.
Print - print graph.

You
can Zoom this graph by using mouse:
To
Zoom:
1.
Press and hold the Shift key.
2.
Press the left mouse button and drag the cursor to select the new extents.
3.
Release the mouse button.
To
Undo the Zoom:
Press
the Alt+U key or click Undo Zoom button.
(Zooming
method is not allowed in Real Time Graph Window.)
