When you turn the crank, the generator produces electrical current, which lights the filament bulb. Replace the filament bulb with the LED lamp supplied – is there any difference in crank resistance? Connect the lead to power other gadgets or to measure generated voltage, for example.

If the lead is connected to a voltage source, the generator switches function to an electric motor and the crank starts to turn. If there are two hand crank generators they can be connected together. If you turn one crank, the other one will rotate...
