Product description

At what voltage do the LEDs light up?
Investigate and calculate Planck's constant.

Light has properties that are sometimes interpreted as waves and sometimes as particles. The particles are seen as small wave packages and are called photons, the energy of which can be calculated as the product of the photon’s frequency and Planck's constant (6.6·10-34 Js).
By examining the voltage at which the different LEDs on the box light up, Planck’s constant can be determined at a relatively simple way.
The experiment inspires discussion about the photoelectric effect or, perhaps, reading about the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics.

Contents: Box with connection for external voltage source (9V), voltmeter and ammeter and 7 LEDs with the wavelengths 470, 505, 570, 605, 655, 880 and 940 nm.
Size: 200x125x60 mm.
Accessories: Power source (9V), voltmeter and ammeter are ordered separately.
Manual: English included.
